Exploring the Template: 2023 Google Sheets Habit Tracker Track and Maintain Your Habit Streaks in Google Sheets

Welcome to the introduction of the 2023 Google Sheets Habit Tracker! In this brief walkthrough, I will guide you through the updated version of this habit tracker, which includes some exciting new features.

Let’s begin with the setup process, which is incredibly simple. If you’re looking to track your habits, this tool is perfect for you.

How to setup the “Setup” tab (I say “template” but I mean “tab”)

In the setup template, you will find two boxes. The first box is where you can write down your own habits. Let’s start by filling in the habits you want to track. If by chance, the habits I have already included in the template align with yours, feel free to keep them. However, if you have different habits in mind, you can select all the existing ones and delete them by pressing the backspace key. Then, simply write out your desired habits, with one habit per line. For example, you can write “Read one chapter,” “Go for a run,” “Cook something healthy,” “Drink water,” “Journal,” and “Write an article.”

After entering your habits, you will notice that the main template has automatically copied the habits you wrote in the setup section. Additionally, you will see a collection of emojis displayed alongside each habit.

Choose emojis to appear depending on how many habits you tick off

The emojis in the template will vary based on the number of habits you have and the number of habits you have completed for each day. If you like the emojis I have chosen, you can keep them as they are. However, if you prefer different emojis, you can delete the existing ones.

In cells E3 to E9, you have the freedom to write any emoji you desire. For example, if you want to motivate yourself and create a consequence for not completing any habits, you can use a poop emoji to represent zero habits done. For one habit done, you can simply press Enter on a Mac to access the emoji keyboard (Ctrl + Command + Space) and choose an appropriate emoji. Feel free to customize the emojis in these cells according to your preference. Remember, it’s your template, so the choice of emojis is entirely up to you. I added these emojis to bring a touch of fun to the tracking process. Additionally, I personally added a fire emoji because I like it.

Please note that if you have no habits to track for a particular day, the poop emoji will always appear. That’s why I left it empty when we started. As you can see, there are food emojis scattered throughout the template. The more habits you track and complete, the better the emoji representation will look.

Stats: Totals, current streak, longest streak

For each month, there is a column that displays the totals for each habit. This column shows the cumulative count of how many times you have completed a specific habit, such as “Read one chapter.”

In addition to the totals, you will find two other columns: “Current Streak” and “Longest Streak.” The “Current Streak” represents the consecutive days you have completed the habit without a break, while the “Longest Streak” indicates the highest number of consecutive days you have ever achieved.

If you select another checkbox for a habit, the “Current Streak” value will update accordingly, increasing by one. This applies to all habits tracked in the template. You will notice that the “Current Streak” dynamically adjusts as you continue to complete the habit consistently.

These features of tracking totals, current streaks, and longest streaks provide valuable insights into your habit-building progress.

Please note that the provided information is based on the given context, and the template may have additional features that were not described in the provided text.

How to set goals per habit + see your progress in

To maintain a daily habit, you can set specific targets or goals for each habit. For example, you may aim to read a chapter 10 times a month, go running 20 times a month, cook something healthy 15 times a month, and drink water every day. Adjust the target numbers in the green column to align with your desired goals. In this example, since the month has 31 days, you would enter 31 for the drink water habit.

The progress section will display how far you have progressed toward your goals and the corresponding percentage. Once you reach 100%, the box will turn green, indicating that you have successfully achieved your target for that habit. The ultimate objective is to have all boxes turn green, signifying that you have met your goals for the month.

This setup process is already complete. You have set up your habits, chosen the desired emojis, and defined the targets you wish to reach. Now, you can begin tracking your progress. By glancing at the checked boxes, totals, streaks, and goal progress, you can easily assess your performance.

Good luck with tracking your habits! If you frequently use your computer, I recommend bookmarking this template for easy access with fewer clicks. Thank you for watching, and take care!
